People are going missing in Foal‘s Creek, a small settlement deep in the late 1880’s American West. Foal’s Creek may seem like a happy, sleepy town, but there is an evil that lurks below the surface.

I made a free game for FC (NES) based on your game (I have indicated this information in the credits of the game). Only the game has a different genre - interactive fiction (IF).

If I hadn't played your game, I would never have made the NES version. But it is very well suited for different platforms and genres. Thanks!

Hey, this is amazing!! I don't speak Russian, but I was able to play through it using Google Translate. So glad to have inspired you, and love what you did with it. It was really cool to see how you interpreted it into a new language and new system. Thanks so much!

You did a really great job of catching all the detail in the game as well. Super impressed by this!

Really love the look of the game <3

Thank you! 😄

Hey! I really loved the short little horror game you have here. Love the world you built and the art is great! I feel like you could do a little series of stories all happening in Foal's Creek, and make it into a collection.

Anyway, I have a suggestion, and not to give away any spoilers, so I'll be vague. Perhaps you can change the colour palette of the scenes, fade it darker and darker towards the end to create a sense of foreboding and build on the tension.

Thanks so much! The original scope of the game was much larger but I trimmed it way down to focus on learning the basics. But would love to do either an expanded version of the game or some kind of sequel. Bigger map, multiple towns, more in-depth NPC storylines... kicking around a bunch of ideas right now, so definitely keep an eye out!

And I like your idea! Definitely want to experiment with more palettes or more realistic light sources in the future.

BUG! If you kill Lucy and then press Select, she will come to life again! And she needs to be killed again...

Thank you for flagging! Will patch that asap. And thanks for playing!

Fixed in v1.0.5! Thanks again for playing!

I have a small issue, if you do the quests given by the people up until getting the knife from the pond, You can no longer talk to the sherrif, and I don't think there is any other way forward, soooo, yeah.

Talking to the Sheriff is actually optional, all it does is add a bit more context to the story. You don’t need to talk to him to progress the game, you can complete the game without ever talking to him.

I just played through the quests until obtaining the knife, and at that point I was still able to talk to the sheriff, so I’m not sure I’m able to reproduce the blocker you’re describing.

As a hint, obtaining the knife allows you to access a new area where you can collect another item. If that doesn’t help, please feel free to email me with more info on the problem you’re running into!

i reloaded the page and now i can talk to people with a knife again... odd

Really beautiful art in this one. I love the palette for the opening scenes. I think maybe it would feel more comfortable to navigate the environment if you change the collision hitbox for the player to be 8x16 instead of 16x16. Going to download this so I can play it on a real device.

Thanks so much! That's a great idea, just published a patch with the collision box adjusted as you suggested, so if you haven't played on GB yet, grab the new ROM. Love your work btw, I put a few of your games on my play list, excited to check them out!

Really enjoyed this, side note all npcs will disappear when you talk to them while above them and for the story is there more then 1 ending or anything like that because i done everything I think is possible and some parts of the game make me think i could be missing something else to the game even if not i really enjoyed the game and cant wait to see what you do in the future

Thank you! Fixed that NPC bug in v1.0.1.

There are some "alternate endings" depending on the choices you make at the end, but the alt endings allow you to restart a checkpoint. There is only one "true" ending, so if you got to the credits, you experienced that ending.

There is one decision you can make about mid-way that will give you slightly different outcomes in that particular encounter, but this encounter doesn't affect the ending.

Just played for a bit in browser but I'm going to download the rom and put it on my Everdrive to play on actual hardware. So far I like what I've played. Music is fantastic. The lady with the missing ring disappeared when I talked to her. Her hit box was still there just not sprite. When I talked to her again she reappeared. Might be a bug worth looking into. Great job so far.
